Cause Good Things is a movement of concerned and committed citizens who believe that creating a Better World for future generations can be best achieved by using purpose, technology and innovation to empower all sectors of society:
We believe the key to purpose is alignment of universally accepted values with the laws and systems of nature: Ecosystems, Evolution, Energy and Diversity
We aim to achieve Our Mission of a Sustainable and Happy Planet by leveraging the power of:
Our Values
Our Values are based on the Rotary 4 Way test...but we doubled them up!
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Is it aligned with TOLERANCE and DIVERSITY ?
Is it aligned with EMPATHY and COMPASSION ?
Is it aligned with SUSTAINABILITY and EVOLUTION ?
Will it assist create HAPPINESS and PURPOSE?
In alignment with these values of tolerance, we are supportive of all politics, religions and other organisations that share these values which we contend are in synch with the laws of nature. That does not mean you need to share our values system, to be part of Cause Good Things. They are simply the values that guide the leadership team.
Cause Good Things History
Cause Good Things had its genesis in 2000 when a Social Enterprise called Community Enabler was founded in January 2000 in Melbourne, Australia.
Its first launched site was called Co-Opworld - creating a world of co-operation on the Internet and it briefly reached the top 1500 most trafficked websites on the Internet.
It subsequently transformed into a platform of Online Local and Special Interest communities where you could browse to find the people, businesses, community groups and information for that particular community. 80% of the profits generated from advertising revenue were to be distributed to its members and charities and community groups. .
This network of Community Marketplaces was called Cagora - The Community Agora - a place to meet, learn, do business and give back.
After 11 years of unsuccessful operation it was shutdown resulting in the loss of time, money and effort of many many very generous supporters. It wasn't just put on hold. It was very much considered dead and buried.
After attending a funeral in March 2019, the founder questioned his life and the mistakes that had taken him to a point of zero net financial worth and started a detailed analysis of the past to seek a path for the future.. It was time for Game On not Game Over. He reassessed some key signposts he'd seen in late 2018 and started 'doing the maths' as Mark Wattney did to come home on the movie The Martian.
It turned out that every single supposed mistake was a critical opportunity and learning:
From choosing the wrong career as a Chemical Engineer.....to the wrong choice of working for a Biotech Startup…. to quitting a well paid Manufacturing career to start an Online Social Enterprise which resulted in having to sell the family home to avoid foreclosure.... to subsequent bad decisions that resulted in a split from his wife.... to his daughter ending up near death with an overexercising eating disorder..... to starting another Social Enterprise to help fight food waste and homelessness which failed miserably .....to lost friendships through working 60 hour weeks to keep the family afloat......
Each and every 'mistake' had actually been crucial to ending up at the destination. (of course who knows there may have been other much less painful paths to reach the same destination, but it seems that a little adversity can help overcome apathy.)
As an ex Social Entrepreneur and Scientist/Engineer, the analysis continued beyond his personal environment to the wider world. Looking for solutions that could be universal to solving bigger problems and from that the key concepts and philosophies took shape including the theory of Ecolutionism and its interaction with the "Noosphere'.
Getting involved with Rotary and seeing how this ecosystem of aligned and inspiring people was a significant influence as was seeing the benefits that more modern project management and innovation systems could do to amplify the amazing project work being undertaken.
Another key turning point was watching a few seminars on the "StartSomeGood' virtual summit for Social Entrepreneurs in March. Previous ideas were validated. Perhaps the failures were partly being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
More coincidences took place and on Easter Sunday April 21st 2019, the deep thinking resulted in a few enlightening ideas. Ideas that were not original. Simply an assimilation of ideas of others from over the history of mankind.. And by applying the principles of 5 stage design thinking, solutions started to appear and snowball.
And then the validation came, which inspired more energy and ideas. Barry Jones an Australian living legend, visionary and ex politician had written a book 'Looking Into The Abyss' which was totally inline with articulating the problem and hinted at solutions considered of establishing a Noocracy, inline with Plato's vision for mankind.
Soon after that, Drawdown.org was discovered and the theory of the incredible power of Think Tanks of committed citizens to solving 'wicked' problems such as Reversing Global Warming was no longer a theory but proven
As at April 27th the draft framework and plans for the key initiatives are close to being tabled on the website Vote4Better.org and CauseGoodThings.org. A series of white papers and blog posts will be tabled when the website CauseGoodThings.com is installed so that people can join and get involved. The initial advisory board is currently being recruited ahead of the launch to after the Australian and European elections are over. 'Thinking citizens' tend to do more thinking and there are higher levels of mind energy.
Let's see how it goes, but we would love you to join us on the journey and hope that our journey inspires your own.
